The Lersi is depicted seated in meditation, wearing his traditional headdress and long beard. He holds a vessel before him, symbolizing his role as a keeper and transmitter of traditional medicinal knowledge.
The unique feature of this statuette is also found under its base, where sacred Ya Lersi paste has been placed. This traditional preparation consists of a mixture of 108 medicinal plants from the Lersi tradition.
