A beautiful selection of Buddhist amulets
promoting memory and studies.
*
The Tibetan (and Thai) Buddhist tradition
asks his disciples, both lay and religious, to memorize
many texts which are often long and complex,
and designed various magical amulets to help them in this task.
*
These amulets can for example be found among Tibetans
to call upon the blessings of
Manjushri (Tibetan:
Djampéyang ),
the Buddha of knowledge and transcendent wisdom.
*
In Thailand, monks have to learn very long texts by heart
in
Pali and some Venerables also make
amulets to aid studies and memorization.
*
In Hindu tradition, these are the amulets of
the Goddess Sarasvati (and sometimes
Hanuman ) which are worn by the students.
*
The use of these amulets is recommended for children, students and anyone learning, for example, a new language.
