Biography of the Most Venerable Luang Phor Sangha of Wat Barn Moh

The Most Venerable Luang Phor Sangha, more accurately transcribed as Luang Phor Sanga Anupuppo, is one of the most respected spiritual masters in Ratchaburi province. Born on March 11, 1916, in the Ban Moh region, he spent his childhood in an atmosphere very close to the temples, studying with monks and regularly helping the monastic community.

Even before his ordination, he showed a keen interest in ancient Thai sacred sciences: prayers, yantra characters, blessings, Nam Mön lustral water, and traditional knowledge. In 1938, at the age of 22, he received monastic ordination at Wat Ban Moh and took the religious name Anupuppo.

LP Sangha was then invited to develop Wat Nong Muang, while remaining closely associated with the Ban Moh region. Later, in the last years of his life, local tradition again linked him to Wat Barn Moh, in the Photharam district, Ratchaburi province.

A Master of Compassion and Discipline

Thai accounts emphasize his great simplicity. Luang Phor Sangha was known for his modest life, his refusal of unnecessary honors, and his very practical teaching: work honestly, live with moderation, do not depend on miracles, and first correct one's own habits.

“Poverty or wealth do not come only from birth: we also create them through our conduct. We must know how to earn, how to use, live with moderation, and correct the cause within ourselves.”

This saying, attributed to LP Sangha in the traditions of his disciples, perfectly summarizes his style: a popular, direct, but profoundly moral spirituality.

LP Sangha's Esoteric Knowledge

Like many great Thai masters of his time, LP Sangha studied katha, yantra, protective blessings, and certain forms of traditional medicine. He is said to have received teachings from several renowned masters, particularly in the fields of sacred powders, yant, and protective amulets.

A famous anecdote tells that while he was seeking a distant master to learn occult sciences, he was made to understand that he was looking for "grass too far from the stable": in other words, his true master was already near him, at Wat Ban Moh. This phrase became a spiritual lesson for him: the most precious treasures are not always hidden far away.

LP Sangha's Amulets and Blessed Objects

Amulets consecrated by LP Sangha are sought after by collectors for protection, moral strength, and general blessing. His ancient medals, Phra Pidta, and certain objects related to Nagas are particularly prized in circles of Thai amulet enthusiasts.

Among the esoteric accounts associated with his blessed objects, one of the most well-known concerns LP Sangha's medals which were reportedly placed in a crucible during a ritual melting ceremony for the production of Buddha statues after his passing. According to tradition reported by devotees, all other objects melted, except the medals blessed by Luang Phor Sangha, which was interpreted as a sign of the master's spiritual power.

End of Life and Spiritual Legacy

Luang Phor Sangha peacefully departed this world on March 29, 2004, leaving behind the memory of a monk who was at once humble, learned, and deeply close to the people. His legacy remains alive in Ratchaburi province, in the memory of his disciples, and in the sacred objects he consecrated throughout his long monastic life.

Even today, the amulets of Luang Phor Sangha of Wat Barn Moh are kept not only as objects of protection but also as testimonies of an era when village masters embodied faith, traditional medicine, moral discipline, and the ancient sacred sciences of Thailand.
