Shaligrams are sacred Hindu fossils.
They are found in the Gandaki River. In their groups the Shaligram
are considered to be related to Vishnu , but various subtypes of Shaligram are found
related to other Hindu Gods.
The most common Shaligrams are actually ammonite fossils of various shapes, but some may be belemnites or trilobites.
The majority of Shaligram
are black, but they are also sometimes found in brown or gray.
Pyrite inclusions are also sometimes found in certain Shaligrams ,
which increases their value.
