Meditation and Protection Belt of the Most Venerable Luang Phor Moon Tithasilo from Wat Banjan
This exceptional meditation and protection belt was entirely hand-braided by the Most Venerable Luang Phor Moon Tithasillo from Wat Banjan, in Sri Saket province, Thailand.
Luang Phor Moon made only a few of these belts each year from his old monk robes. The saffron fabric, having been worn by the venerable, was cut then patiently twisted and braided to form a belt intended for meditation and protection.
This piece therefore has a very special dimension: it is not merely a ritual object, but a relic directly linked to the master, made with his own hands from his monastic robes.
Luang Phor Moon Tithasillo was a great master belonging to the tradition of forest monks. These belts bear witness to a simple and unadorned form of practice, in which an everyday object of monastic life becomes, through the master's work and its spiritual use, a support for meditation and protection.
The irregular braiding, knots, and naturally aged appearance of the fabric are an integral part of this handcrafted piece. These belts were often offered to monks going on retreat in the jungle or to close disciples of the Venerable.
