Taoist Amulets by Master Chang-Ee.

Master Chang Ee is a venerable Taoist master based in Bangkok, spiritual leader of the Temple of the 8 Immortals. Born in 1933 in the Tae Tiu region of China, he arrived in Thailand in 1945 and over the decades became a respected figure of Chinese Taoist tradition in Thai land.

His temple, located in an area not often visited by Westerners, perfectly reflects the spiritual blend often found in Thailand: Chinese Taoism, popular Buddhism, the cult of Guan Yin, devotion to Buddhas, and the presence of prosperity deities like Dzambhala. The upper part of the sanctuary is dedicated to the Eight Taoist Immortals, while the lower part houses Buddhist altars.

Although considered a high-level initiate, Master Chang Ee is a simple, modest man deeply detached from fame, honors, and money. His teaching is primarily expressed through ritual practice, ceremonies, Taoist divination, and respect for ancient traditions passed down by Chinese communities in Thailand.

The rituals of his temple notably use large red divinatory sticks to support the manifestations of the Eight Immortals, through specialized mediums. These mediums trace Chinese symbols during the sessions, which are then read, interpreted, and translated into Thai. This practice illustrates the richness of a living, popular Taoism deeply rooted in Bangkok's religious life.
