Historical and biographical context
Born in 1938, Venerable Luang Phor Sao served as the second abbot of Wat Rath Sanoon, a temple located in Pathum Thani province, near Bangkok.
A former police officer in his youth, he took ordination following painful circumstances, including the death of his wife. What was supposed to last only a month became a lifelong commitment.
A rigorous monk, he taught the 227 rules of the Vinaya to novices for several decades. He was also renowned for his profound knowledge of the occult practices of Theravāda Buddhism. He was one of the few direct disciples of the Most Venerable Luang Phor Kassem , and was a friend of the famous Luang Phor Kee .

Monastic life and active compassion
Luang Phor Sao led a humble life, secluded in a small, isolated house away from the temple. He lived surrounded by abandoned or sick dogs and cats , which he cared for as best he could with the limited means at his disposal. His daily life was dedicated to meditation, teaching, and caring for the most vulnerable.
A life of commitment to the end
With age, the Venerable's mental health deteriorated. After 2012, he left the temple to join his family. He leaves behind the memory of a self-effacing but deeply inspiring master, with a sincere and luminous commitment to the Dharma and all beings.
