🙏🏽 Most Venerable Luang Phor Hong Promapanyo from Wat Petchaburi 🙏🏽

The Most Venerable Luang Phor Hong Promapanyo, also known by his ecclesiastical title of Phra Kru Prasat Phrommakhun, was one of the great Buddhist masters from the province of Surin, in northeastern Thailand. Born in 1918 in the Prasat region, he entered monastic life at a very young age and received the name Promapanyo, generally interpreted as "he whose wisdom is like that of Brahma."

Attached to Wat Petchaburi, in Ban Thung Mon, Prasat district, Luang Phor Hong became abbot of the temple in 1973. He was then appointed local ecclesiastical chief, and later monastic preceptor, playing an important role in the transmission of the Dharma and in the religious life of the Surin community.

A master of the Dharma and Thai sacred sciences

The Most Venerable Luang Phor Hong was respected not only for his monastic discipline but also for his knowledge of visha, the traditional Thai sacred sciences. Biographical accounts report that he traveled to Cambodia, where he met Lersi hermits and venerable Phra Siwali monks, with whom he studied meditation, protective khatas, metta formulas, blessings against dangers, and consecration practices.

Upon returning to Thailand, he used this knowledge to serve the faithful, blessing numerous amulets, takuts, protective belts, pa yants, and ritual objects. His amulets are particularly sought after for protection, luck, personal charm, prosperity, and spiritual strength.

🪔 Esoteric anecdotes and testimonials 🪔

Among the frequently reported anecdotes, it is said that a wild bird once entered Luang Phor Hong's room and peacefully shared his meal, a sign of his gentle radiance and closeness to living beings.

Other testimonials mention healings obtained through blessed wax and sacred water, as well as ceremonies during which storms broke out without ever extinguishing the ritual candles. Some devotees even claimed to have seen lights, devas, or invisible presences during his blessings.

“Observe the five precepts of the Dharma and with just one of my amulets, nothing will be able to harm you.”

📿 Spiritual legacy 📿

Luang Phor Hong Promapanyo passed away on March 5, 2014, leaving behind the image of an austere, benevolent monk deeply rooted in the spiritual tradition of Southern Isan. Even today, his name remains associated with Wat Petchaburi of Surin, with Thai protective amulets, and with a lineage of practice where Dharma, meditation, and sacred magic remain closely intertwined.
