Antique Mon reliquary with lead Buddha and multicolored sarira beads

This ancient terracotta reliquary, fashioned in the traditional style of the Mön people, houses a small spiritual treasure: at the heart of a bowl patinated by time rests an ancient lead Buddha, seated in deep meditation, surrounded by an assemblage of sacred beads. It includes many multicolored sarira beads , symbols of purity and inner transformation, as well as several ancient mala beads and a sacred stone , probably used as an energy receptacle or ritual object in a monastic context. The whole gives off an impression of serenity, spiritual density and connection to ancestral lineages.
  • 🙏 Master: Unidentified (ancient object from a private collection)
  • 🛕 Temple: Ancient Mon sanctuary on Koh Kret Island
  • ✨ Deity: Buddha Shakyamuni
  • 📐 Dimensions: approximately 11 cm x 11 cm
  • ⚓ Weight: approximately 550 grams
  • Reliquary: Old terracotta votive cup in Mön style, authentic patina.
The power of this reliquary lies as much in its components as in its assembly. The sarira beads are known to emanate a subtle and benevolent energy, capable of uplifting the spirit and purifying environments. The lead Buddha, a heavy and telluric material, acts as an anchor between the visible and invisible worlds. Finally, the sacred stone acts as the heart of the sanctuary: it captures, retains, and diffuses blessings. To possess such an object is to welcome a fragment of ancient inner Thailand.
