Ratibus the cat – Vintage Kiri the Clown toy – 1960s
Authentic vintage toy representing Ratibus, the famous cat from the French children's television series Kiri the Clown. Created by Jean Image, the original series first aired on October 13, 1966, on the first channel of the ORTF and consisted of 65 five-minute episodes.
Ratibus is part of Kiri's small circus troupe alongside Laura, Pip'lett, and Bianca. A particularly clever and mischievous little cat, he loves playing tricks on Pip'lett and can also play the saxophone. The original series used stop-motion puppets, giving its characters their characteristic appearance.
This vintage toy faithfully recreates the immediately recognizable look of Ratibus, with his large orange plastic head, pointed ears, green eyes, prominent black nose, and long whiskers. The body is made of orange fabric with a light-colored belly, a long black tail, and flexible limbs.
This is a genuine vintage toy from the era of the Kiri the Clown universe, not a modern reproduction. It is preserved in fairly good condition considering its age, with the normal traces and small marks of a toy that has spanned several decades.
