Here are some images of the ancient Sog Shing Tree of Life
from the Stupa of Bodnath, which was clearly badly damaged.

A new Tree of Life at the Boudhanath Stupa was installed in 2016
and the wood of the ancient tree of life was used to carve
about 300 Phurba of various sizes.

The largest and most beautiful of these Phurba were placed in the Stupa,
some were offered to various high Lamas
and I was able to get some of the little Phurba
for Magiedubouddha.com customers.

The ancient tree of life of the Boudhanath Stupa is said to have been offered
by the Tibetan King Trisong Detsen (742 - 798).

This wood would therefore be more than 1200 years old and would be contemporary
of Guru Rinpoche, or even would have been consecrated
by Guru Rinpoche himself (who was close to King Trisong Detsen
and present when this wood was sent to Nepal)!
