📿 This ancient Sino-Thai Pa Yant depicts a Buddha seated on a lotus accompanied by a traditional Chinese talismanic diagram . This type of talisman was once used in the homes and businesses of Chinese communities in Southeast Asia to protect the dwelling and ensure family peace.
This rare piece dates from the period between the 1950s and 1970s and was hand-printed with a traditional wooden printing block on monk's robe fabric.

The sacred fabric features an illustration of Shakyamuni Buddha surrounded by talismanic Chinese characters. At the top is a Taoist talismanic fu, formed by a magic square intended to invoke celestial protective forces.

The Chinese inscriptions visible on the fabric express a traditional protective blessing:

May this dwelling be protected and remain in peace.

佛作平安— “The Buddha grants peace and security”

This type of talisman represents a traditional blend of Buddhism and Taoist talismanism , widespread in Chinese communities in Thailand and Cambodia. Talismans of this kind were often hung in a house, shop, or home altar to stabilize the energies of the place and ward off negative influences.

The presence of the Buddha at the center of the talisman reinforces the spiritual dimension of the fabric, invoking peace, protection, and harmony for the inhabitants of the home.
