Magnificent handcrafted Buddhist votive tablet in terracotta, covered with a dark green Met Rae alchemical glass glaze, enhanced with subtle iridescent petroleum-colored reflections. This piece is contemporary but made according to ancient traditions and comes from the Utharadit region of northern Thailand.
Despite the very raw appearance of the alchemical glass glaze, we can make out the figure of the Buddha surrounded by two disciples, in a teaching posture imbued with wisdom and compassion. This tablet is, of course, unique due to the alchemical vitrification process, which gives rise to unpredictable textures and hues, symbolizing impermanence and transformation.
This sacred object will be particularly suitable for lovers of atypical Buddhist objects or collectors of contemporary sacred art inspired by ancient Thai traditions.
