This oldBuddhist votive tablet in heavily patinated grey metal represents a Buddha in the Dvaravati style, a very old iconography linked to the early Buddhist traditions of Thailand.

The Buddha is depicted sitting in the Western style on a throne and performing the mudra of teaching , a symbol of the transmission of the Dharma and awakened wisdom.

Around the central figure appear various ritual and symbolic motifs, including a sacred stupa and several decorative elements evoking ancient religious architectures.

This unusual piece is made of a grey metal reminiscent of tin, now heavily oxidized by time, giving it a particularly authentic antique patina.

The tablet has three perforations , indicating that it was probably once fixed to a ritual support, an altar, or incorporated into the structure of a sacred building.

According to reports, these tablets were discovered during renovation work on a wall of a secondary temple located near the great stupa of Phra Pathom Chedi . Several baskets filled with ancient votive tablets were unearthed there, most of them made of terracotta, but some also of metal. The wall where these baskets were discovered was between 150 and 200 years old, but there is no evidence to suggest that these objects were new when they were hidden.
