Rama (Sanskrit: रामा ) is an ancient Indian king whose heroic life and exploits are recounted in the epic Ramayana . Astronomical data from the Ramayana allow us to date Rama's reign to approximately 4,000 years ago.
The Ramayan was first a collection of stories transmitted orally
before being fixed in writing several dozen centuries after the supposed reign of Rama, probably around the beginning of the Christian era.
