Dayak animist statue in carved wood from Malaysia.
*
I got this statue in Bangkok from a lot sold by a collector.
As far as I know, it dates from the 1980s and is believed to be a Dayak production purchased by this collector in Kuala Lumpur.
(there is a label with this word under the statue).

The Dayak are a group of indigenous peoples of the islands of Borneo,
shared between Indonesia and Malaysia, Sumatra and the Celebes Islands.
The Dayak population is divided into about 450 ethnic groups ,
each having their own beliefs and local spirits.

I could not identify the strange character represented by this statue.
It is a male humanoid figure, with what appears to be whiskers (tattoos?), depicted standing, carrying two objects (pestles?)
and having his head tilted to the left.
