One can wear these Tsa Tsa as an amulet
or use them to charge a statue of the Buddha Amithaba
(or the long-lived Buddha Amitayus).
Amithaba, also known as Amitabha or Amida,
is a Buddha of the Mahayana tradition of India. He is considered
as the Buddha of boundless light and infinite compassion.
According to tradition, Amithaba took a pledge to respond to all beings
who invoke his name to help them reach Nirvana.
The main practice associated with Amithaba is meditation on her name, called "Nembutsu" in Japanese. Followers believe that repeating "Namu Amida Butsu" (I surrender to Amithaba) allows the individual to draw closer.
of the realization of Buddhahood.
Amithaba is also associated with the doctrine of the Pure Land, an ideal universe
where beings can achieve spiritual awakening. This doctrine supports
that all beings can be saved by the grace of Amithaba, even those
who have committed serious acts. This has led to great popularity
of the practice of Buddha Amithaba in communities of monks and lay people.
