and on the back the Dragon King Sutra.

The Dragon King Sutra ( Sāgaranāgarājaparipchā Sūtra ) is a text
which summarizes the Buddha's answer to a question asked
by the Dragon King Sagara.

This text exists in 3 versions (extensive, long and short),
This is the condensed version which is engraved on the back of this amulet
(note that in this translation there is curiously no distinction made
between the Nagas and the Dragons ):

Prostrations to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.

So I heard at one point.
The Bhagavan resided at the house of the Dragon King Sāgara with a large assembly of 1,250 bhikus as well as a multitude of Bodhisattvas and Mahāsattvas.

At that time, the Bhagavan said to King Sagara:
“Lord of the Nagas, if one pronounces these four aphorisms of Dharma,
By pronouncing them, one expresses the 84,000 articles of the Dharma.
What are the four? They are as follows.

1) Fully engage in understanding the inexhaustible doctrine
of the Bodhisattva Mahāsattvas according to which
all compound phenomena are impermanent.

2) Fully engage in understanding the inexhaustible doctrine
of the Bodhisattva Mahāsattvas according to which all contaminated phenomena suffer.

3) Fully engage in understanding the inexhaustible doctrine
of the Bodhisattva Mahāsattvas according to which all phenomena are selfless.

4) Fully engage in understanding the inexhaustible doctrine
of the Bodhisattva Mahāsattvas according to which Nirvāṇa is peace.

"Lord of the nagas, if one utters these four aphorisms of Dharma,
By pronouncing them, one expresses the 84,000 articles of the Dharma."

When the Bhagavan spoke in this manner, the bhikus and Bodhisattvas
rejoiced and greatly praised the teachings of the Bhagavan.

Ancient tradition assures that keeping a copy of this digest at home
of the Buddha's teachings is a powerful blessing

and the assurance of seeing his house protected by the Nagas / Dragon.

The copy of the Dragon King Sutra here presented
being made of a noble, rot-proof material,
if we take care of it it can last for centuries and centuries,
unlike a paper copy.

Please note that this amulet is not pierced.
and is not designed to be worn as a pendant.
It is kept on the altar as a sacred object.
and a source of powerful blessings.
