Most Venerable Luang Phor Phromma Kémajaro
of Wat Hin Panang Koi

Luang Phor Phromma Kémajaro, also known by his Thai name "The God of the Mekong" หลวงปู่พรหมมา เขมจาโร, was one of the great meditation masters and forest tradition practitioners of northeastern Thailand. Born in 1897 in Ubon Ratchathani province, he is associated with Wat Suan Hin Pha Nang Khoi, often transcribed in English as Wat Hin Panang Koi, located in the Ubon Ratchathani region, near the Mekong and the Laotian border.

Hailing from a rural family, he showed a deep interest in Dharma, meditation, and traditional knowledge related to medicinal plants at a very young age. At twelve years old, he entered monastic life as a novice. According to traditional accounts, he received teachings from renowned masters, particularly in the Champassak region of Laos, before pursuing a long life of ascetic practice.

LP Phromma Kémajaro spent many years as a thudong monk, traveling through the forests, mountains, and isolated areas of Thailand, Laos, and neighboring regions. This austere practice, focused on meditation, solitude, and discipline, helped build his reputation as an accomplished master, respected for his spiritual strength, simplicity, and great benevolence.
During these years, he met several Lersi hermits and had the opportunity to study various occult practices with them.

In local traditions, LP Phromma is sometimes called the “God of the Mekong Basin”, due to the deep veneration he receives from Thai and Lao devotees. His spiritual presence remains linked to Wat Hin Panang Koi, a very isolated temple surrounded by rocks, forest, and local legends, which has become a pilgrimage site for those seeking protection, blessing, and inspiration in the Buddhist path.

His amulets, medals, pa yants, and blessed objects are particularly sought after by collectors and practitioners. They are traditionally associated with protection, longevity, meditation, inner strength, and defense against negative influences. Some series related to LP Phromma are also appreciated for their connection with the Lersi, yants, and ancient esoteric practices of popular Thai Buddhism.

The Most Venerable LP Phromma Kémajaro passed away on August 23, 2002, at the age of 105. His long life, entirely dedicated to practice, the transmission of Dharma, and helping devotees, continues to inspire Buddhists in Thailand, Laos, and enthusiasts of sacred amulets worldwide.
