🙏🏽 Most Venerable Luang Phor Pern Titakuno,
master of Wat Bang Phra 🙏🏽

The Most Venerable Luang Phor Pern Titakuno, also known as Phra Udom Prachanat, was one of the great spiritual masters of Nakhon Pathom province. Born in 1923 in Nakhon Chai Si, he is particularly associated with Wat Bang Phra, a temple that became famous throughout Thailand for the tradition of Sak Yant, sacred Thai tattoos intended for protection, inner strength, and righteous conduct.

From his youth, Luang Phor Pern showed a deep interest in meditation, khata, yant, and Thai spiritual sciences. He was ordained as a monk at the age of 25 at Wat Bang Phra, where he studied under renowned masters, particularly in the fields of meditation, protective incantations, and sacred tattooing traditions.

Luang Phor Pern's fame is inseparable from the symbol of the tiger. According to tradition, during a period of forest practice in the Kanchanaburi region, villagers were terrified by wild tigers. Luang Phor Pern reportedly gave them protective khata and yant, and subsequently, tiger attacks ceased entirely. After this, the reputation of his spiritual protections spread rapidly, and images of the master often depict him meditating on the back of a tiger.

At Wat Bang Phra, his disciples came to receive blessings, amulets, and Sak Yant. Even after his passing in 2002, his influence remains alive through the annual Wai Kru ceremony, during which thousands of devotees come to honor the master's lineage and symbolically rekindle the spiritual power of their sacred tattoos.

“True protection comes not only from sak-yant, but from righteous conduct, faith, and respect for the Dharma.”

Esoteric anecdotes

A popular tradition tells that some disciples wearing his yant enter a trance state during Wai Khru ceremonies, sometimes manifesting the symbolic energy of the sacred animal depicted on their skin, such as the tiger or Hanuman. This phenomenon is still observed today during large gatherings at Wat Bang Phra.

Another famous anecdote states that the tiger amulets associated with Luang Phor Pern were initially sought after to protect inhabitants from the dangers of the forest. They then became renowned talismans for strength, courage, protection against accidents, and charismatic power.
