Biography of the Most Venerable Luang Phor Dooh (หลวงพ่อดู๋ พระพรหมปัญโญ) of Wat Sakai (Ayuthaya).
Born on May 10, 1904 , in the Uthai district of Ayutthaya province, young Dooh Noosi experienced life's challenges early on. Orphaned at the age of five, he was lovingly raised by his grandmother and sisters in a modest, rural environment.
At the age of 21, he decided to follow the monastic path and was ordained as a monk at Wat Sakae ,
May 10, 1925. His ordination master was Venerable Luang Phor Klun, a renowned Master of Wat Yatikaram , who played a decisive role in his spiritual beginnings.
A master on an inner quest
From his early years in the saffron robe, Luang Phor Dooh immersed himself fervently in the study of Dharma and ancient spiritual sciences . He was a student of several senior masters, such as Luang Phor Nueng , Luang Phor Rod , Luang Phor Chom , and Luang Phor Pao . He also deepened his knowledge by retreating to isolated forest areas, particularly in the provinces of Kanchanaburi and Suphanburi, where he practiced meditation under conditions of intense austerity.
His approach to spirituality was both rigorous and compassionate.
He saw every moment as an opportunity to cultivate wisdom, and every human encounter as an opportunity to transmit the heart of Buddhism.
A respected and deeply human guide
Luang Phor Dooh was known for the clarity of his teachings , his gentleness of character, and his ability to adapt the Dharma to the daily realities of each individual. From the humblest villagers to the most erudite disciples, everyone found in him a sincere ear and precious advice. He attached great importance to meditative practice , which he taught with simplicity, often through profound but accessible metaphors.
The last years
From 1984 onwards, the Venerable's health began to decline, a consequence of many years of service and constant reception of the faithful. Despite fatigue and pain, he continued his teaching mission, faithful to his commitment until the end.
On January 17, 1990 , at the age of 85 , he passed away after 65 years of monastic life . His passing was a great loss for the Thai Buddhist community, but his spiritual legacy remains profoundly alive.
A sacred heritage
Luang Phor Dooh leaves behind a precious legacy, both in his teachings and in the numerous amulets and sacred objects he blessed. Sought after by devotees and collectors, these objects are renowned for their spiritual power, the miraculous phenomena they regularly produce, and their protective properties.
Even today, his name is spoken with respect and devotion, and Wat Sakae remains an active pilgrimage site, welcoming those who come to honor his memory and draw inspiration from his work.
