LeWat Nong Pho - Historic Monastery of the Most Venerable Luang Phor Doem (Nakhon Sawan)
Nestled in the village of Ban Nong Pho , in the south of Nakhon Sawan province, Wat Nong Pho has become a major pilgrimage site thanks to the fame of the venerable Luang Phor Doem († 1951). The memory of the master permeates the entire site: one discovers his teachings, his personal objects and numerous evocations of his monastic life.
The temple is famous for the Meedh Moh , ritual knives associated with the master. A laterite sala also displays an impressive monumental replica, recalling the spiritual authority of these protective artifacts.
More recently, a white chedi with a golden tip was inaugurated. Its ground floor serves as a museum tracing the local history and the heritage of the monastery, while the upper floor houses murals dedicated to the life of the Buddha and a space where the relics are kept, guarded by four Buddha statues in distinct styles. The whole makes for an educational and contemplative visit, ideal for understanding the lasting influence of Luang Phor Doem in the region.
