These malas are made up of 30% iron from links
of one of the famous Chakzampa (Iron Bridge) built almost
600 years by Mahasiddha Thangtong Gyalpo (1385-1509).

and more specifically for the practice of Chana Dorje (Vajrapani).

Nowadays iron Malas are very rarely found in Nepal,
but they are still quite popular in Mongolia.
