Chinese silver temple coin,
decorated with a beautiful image of Avalokiteshvara with a thousand arms.

This type of votive currency was once used
as an offering by worshippers in certain large Chinese temples.
The temple would make and bless the coins, which would then be sold to worshippers who could either keep them or place them in front of the temple statues ( Guan Yin for example in this case).
