Buddha Birth Amulet
This rare amulet depicts one of the most sacred episodes in the Buddha's life: his birth in the garden of Lumbini. It depicts Queen Mayadevi holding a tree branch, and the young Siddhartha Gautama taking his first steps on earth. The exact origin of this piece remains unknown, but its ancient style and fine reliefs demonstrate a deep respect for classical depictions of this divine event.
According to tradition, when Queen Mayadevi gave birth to the future Buddha under a sal tree, he bowed to support her. Immediately after his birth, the child took seven steps, and with each step a lotus flower appeared. He then raised his right hand to the sky and declared, "I am the noblest in the world; this is my last birth." This moment marks the awakening of compassion in the world and the promise of a path to universal deliverance.
