Curious protective amulets Dhamma Osot (Buddha medicine)
with herbs for pilgrims
dedicated in 2014 at Wat Khlong Prao (Trat).
*
The word Dhamma-Osot is a word from Pali ( DAM-MA-O-SA-TA in Pali)
which comes from two words: Dharma (the Buddha's teachings for understanding the truth) and Osatha (medicine, something that eliminates disease). The combined meaning is that the medicine is the Dharma,
which is something that eliminates disease.
It can be seen that every person who still has defilements will be sick because their mind is as if pierced by these defilements, injuring their mind, making it dull and impure. So how can we cure such mental illnesses and gradually eliminate them? Not with anything else, but with the Dharma that Lord Buddha taught.
*
These amulets were made according to an ancient formula in collaboration with the Ko Chang Herbal Learning Center (a traditional herbalism school).
These are amulets of an ancient type intended to aid in the practice of the Dharma,
and to protect pilgrims and travelers (lay people and Phra Siwali monks)
not only diseases but also ferocious animals.
*
These amulets were made from a mixture of medicinal herbs and hand-cast in antique wooden molds, so there are variations in both shape and color, which do not affect their effect.
