The venerable man's dog, though loyal, had the fault of chasing the local peasants' ducks, which attracted the wrath of the villagers, who did not hesitate to shoot him with rifles. Worried about his companion's safety, the venerable man then made his first protective amulet... by recycling an empty sardine can !
