📿 Antique painted wooden reliquary 📿
Buddha amulet and green sarira beads
(Chiang Mai, 1980s)

Here is an antique reliquary made of turned wood , painted in the traditional style of northern Thailand, typical of Chiang Mai . Dating from the 1980s , it has stood the test of time and now bears the marks of its age: the wood has split naturally as it dried over the decades (see photo), giving it an authentic patina.

Inside lies an ancient terracotta Buddha amulet , covered with a fine sacred copper powder . Around it are green sarira relic beads , considered miraculous spiritual manifestations linked to the presence of the Dharma.

Features :

  • 🙏 Master: unknown (traditional transmission from Chiang Mai)
  • 🛕 Temple: ancient style of northern Thailand
  • ✨ Deity: Buddha
  • 📐 Dimensions: approximately 11 cm high, diameter 10 cm
  • ⚓ Weight: approximately 350 grams
  • Reliquary: Hand-painted turned wood (cracked with age)

A testimony of the Dharma

This reliquary is not only a sacred object, but a testament to the connection between Chiang Mai's folk crafts and traditional Buddhist practices . It embodies the encounter between the beauty of painted wood, the power of sarira relics , and the timeless presence of the Buddha.

🪔 In the silence of the northern temples, artisans carved the echo of mantras into the wood. Monks then placed the dust of awakening —amulets and sarira beads—into it so that future generations could receive their blessing. This ancient reliquary is like a small portable cave, where the coppery light of the Buddha continues to radiate despite the cracks of time.
