the Institute of Medicine and Astrology of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

On the front of this medal is the seed syllable of Green Tara (TAM)
surrounded by her mantra.
On the back of the medal, there is also the seed syllable surrounded by the mantra,
but on a mirror and "in mirror"
(i.e. reversed, only readable in a mirror!).

Green Tara (Sanskrit Shyamatara) is one of the 21 forms of Tara, the female Bodhisattva of compassion, and a protective deity of Tibet.
She is depicted seated, with two arms, one head, a crystal between her two eyes,
one leg partially extended, and her two hands holding two lotus flowers.
She is always ready to rise to help beings.
Green Tara is particularly known for her power
to overcome the most difficult situations,
providing protection and comfort against dangers.

This medal was consecrated during
a series of 9 Green Tara Puja ceremonies
and will bring powerful protection to its wearer.
