Alchemical glass amulets blessed by the Most Venerable Luang Phor Puang Suwiro (Wat Pa Pulu Santiwatthana, Udon Thani)

These precious alchemical glass amulets were cast and blessed by the most venerable Luang Phor Puang Suwiro , eminent master of the Dhammayut tradition, direct disciple of the lineage of Luang Pu Man Phurithatto .

They come from a small old batch , acquired from an elderly Thai collector, and are offered to you here exclusively.

Biography of the Most Venerable Luang Phor Puang Suwiro (Phrakru Weethammanut)

Wat Pa Pulu Santiwatthana – Udon Thani

The Most Venerable Luang Phor Puang Suwiro was born on Monday, June 2, 1928 , corresponding to the fifteenth day of the waxing moon of the seventh month of the year of the Horse , in Ban Pulu village, Ban Chiang subdistrict, Nong Han district, Udon Thani province.

He was the eighth of fourteen children , born to Mr. Jun Sitthaban and Mrs. Ma Khanthiphanwong .


Path to monastic life

From a young age, he led a simple and hardworking life. At 16 , he worked in fishing, and sometimes also in distilling alcohol. A major turning point came when he learned that his mother was seriously ill. When he came to visit her, she asked him to take the vows of a monk. Deeply touched by this last wish, he accepted and vowed to ordain himself. Shortly after, his mother passed away.

Driven by filial gratitude and a deep desire for spiritual practice, he decided to fully embrace the path of Dhamma. In 1947 , he donned the white habit and lived for two years alongside Phra Ajahn Sila Thewamitto , receiving his first spiritual teachings. He also studied under renowned masters such as Phra Ajahn Singh Sahathammo , Phra Ajahn Phon Sumano , and Luang Pu Khao Analayo , who often came to meditate in the area.

He also assisted Luang Pu Man Phurithatto , who was seriously ill at the time, by accompanying him to Wat Pa Suthawat , where he eventually passed away. He participated in the entire cremation ceremony, before ordaining himself shortly after.


Ordination

He was ordained a monk on May 7, 1950 in Sakhon Nakhon province.
His preceptor (Upajjhaya) was Phrakhru Phutthiwarakhom (Phut Yaso) , and the presiding monk was Phra Ajahn On Yanasiri .


Practice and teaching

After his ordination, Luang Phor Puang Suwiro adopted a strict and rigorous practice. He undertook numerous Thudong meditative pilgrimages throughout the Northeastern and Northern provinces of Thailand . He received teachings from several great masters, including:

  • Luang Pu Khao Analayo

  • Luang Pu On Yanasiri

  • Luang Pu Juan Kulchettho

  • Luang Pu Chan Khempatto

  • Luang Pu Maha Bunmee Siritharo

He subsequently founded Wat Pa Pulu Santiwatthana , in his native village of Ban Pulu , which he transformed into a practice center.

Among his Dharma companions are several renowned masters:
Luang Pu Rian Woralapho , Luang Pu Chan Som Kittikaro , Luang Pu Thon Yanatharo , Luang Pu Bunma Kamphiradhammo , etc.


Legacy

Luang Phor Puang Suwiro was renowned as a monk who practiced the Dharma in a pure manner and for his strict adherence to the rules of the Vinaya , faithful to the teachings of the lineage of Luang Pu Man Phurithatto . His teaching style was renowned for its melodious voice , its clarity , and its ability to touch hearts .
He was also renowned as a learned monk in the field of occult arts and alchemy.

Thanks to him, many people developed faith in Buddhism and engaged in spiritual practice.


Last moments

The Most Venerable Luang Phor Puang died in meditation at the age of 75 , at Vichaiyut Hospital (Bangkok), on January 22, 2003, following coronary heart disease.
