✨ These amazing natural menalite stones from Morocco feature unique, almost living organic shapes, sculpted by ancient geological processes. Their soft, sculpted appearance evokes mysterious silhouettes, between fossilization and natural manifestation.
In France, particularly in the Fontainebleau forest, these formations are known as gogotes. Highly prized for centuries, they were even used to decorate some of the fountains at the Palace of Versailles, where they accompany representations of Roman gods in natural and symbolic compositions.
Some ancient authors noted that the rounded shapes of the gogotes strongly resemble prehistoric Venuses with generous forms, and therefore considered these stones to be powerful talismans of fertility and charm.
In Canada, these stones are called Fairy Stones. They are traditionally kept as good luck charms, believed to attract subtle and benevolent energies to the places where they rest.
In Morocco, these stones are also kept as protective objects by the Berbers. Ancient legends say that they are fossils of strange creatures from a distant past, frozen in matter over the ages. Their presence thus evokes a link between the visible world and forgotten realities.
In Thailand, I have sometimes seen similar stones to gogotes in temples and private collections, presented as mineral relics of Arahants from the distant past.
