Protective Takut from Sacred Wood by the Venerable Luang Phor Phong Titajaro (1980s)
This exceptional protective Takut amulet was handmade in the 1980s by the venerable Luang Phor Phong Titajaro. Specially designed for a young Thudong monk engaged in itinerant ascetic practice, this unique piece is made from rare sacred wood carefully selected according to Thai spiritual traditions.
The Takut consists of two twigs of sacred wood, entirely bound with hand-braided green cords and adorned with a rusty safety pin. Its rustic and authentic appearance bears witness to its artisanal creation, intended for the personal use of a practitioner living in direct contact with wild nature. Absolutely not a decorative or commercial item.
In the tradition of Thailand's forest monks, this type of sacred object is reputed to offer spiritual protection against wild animals encountered during long meditative walks in the forest. These talismans were individually blessed and prepared to accompany their wearer in isolated areas where natural dangers were numerous.
