🙏🏽 Most Venerable Luang Phor Pae Khemangkaro of Wat Pikul Thong 🙏🏽
Luang Phor Pae Khemangkaro was one of the great Thai Buddhist masters of the 20th century. Born on January 1, 1905, in Singburi, he remains deeply associated with Wat Pikul Thong, a major temple in the province of Singburi, Central Thailand.
His birth name was Pae Jaimankong. At a very young age, he was entrusted to religious life and studied Buddhist scriptures, Pali, and ancient monastic traditions. After being a novice, he received full ordination on April 21, 1926, under the monastic name of Khemangkaro.
Luang Phor Pae initially pursued rigorous training in sacred texts, achieving an advanced level in Pali studies. Following vision problems, he turned more towards meditation, inner practice, and the teachings of great masters of his time. This dual training, both scholarly and contemplative, helped make him a respected monk throughout Thailand.
In 1931, at just twenty-six years old, he became abbot of Wat Pikul Thong. Under his leadership, the temple was restored, expanded, and transformed into an important religious center. Luang Phor Pae also participated in numerous public works: schools, hospitals, bridges, community buildings, and structures useful to the local population of Singburi.
In the world of Thai amulets, Luang Phor Pae is particularly famous for his colored Phra Somdej and Phra Pidta, his blessed medals, and his many sacred objects. His amulets are traditionally sought after for protection, luck, prosperity, Metta Maha Niyom, and spiritual support in daily life.
He was also recognized by the Thai monastic hierarchy and received several important honorary titles, including that of Phra Thammamuni. His reputation extended far beyond Singburi province, attracting devotees, collectors, and disciples from all over Thailand.
Luang Phor Pae passed away on February 10, 1999, at the age of 94, after more than 70 years of monastic life. His body remains venerated at Wat Pikul Thong, where many devotees still come to pay homage to him.
Today, the Most Venerable Luang Phor Pae of Wat Pikul Thong remains a major figure in Thai Buddhism, both a meditation master, builder, protector of the people, and a great creator of sacred amulets.
