Antique Phra Somdej Amulet (1970s/1980s) – Wat Bang Khunphrom – Red handwritten Yant on the back

This ancient Phra Somdej amulet comes from Wat Bang Khunphrom , a legendary temple in Bangkok known for housing the direct lineage of Somdej amulets from Somdej Phra Puthajarn Toh. Dating from the 1970s/1980s , this piece bears witness to a time when the cult of the Somdej was experiencing a revival, under the impetus of the artisan monks of Wat Bang Khunphrom.

Made of sacred powder (Phong Phutthakhun) , it features the classic Buddha seated in meditation on three steps under an arch, a symbol of enlightenment and spiritual stability. The reverse features a handwritten yant in red ink , probably added later to reinforce its protective power. The original temple seal is now erased, a sign of the coin's age.
